Research & innovation studio
We build practical tools for everyday heroes.
Cog Mission is a research and innovation studio. We partner with teachers, tradespeople, nonprofits, retirees, and small business owners to uncover overlooked problems — and then build practical tools that make everyday work a little easier.
Step right up — pick a door!
Three ways into the Mission. Pull up a chair at the Campfire, peek behind the curtain at the adventures we are building, or dig into Field Notes still wet with paint. No ticket required — just curiosity.
I am here to connect
The Campfire is lit. Owners, educators, and operators comparing notes — no pitch, no demo, just the honest stuff from the field. Lurk as long as you want. Post when you are ready.
I am here to discover
Not a product catalog — adventures grown from real conversations. See what happens when Cog Mission sits with a particular group around a particular problem.
I am here to uncover
Questions, comments, and profundities from the trail. Not case studies. Not a pitch deck. The kind of read that makes you lean in — and maybe change what you build next.
We thought they’d want websites with glitter and gleam,
With fancy blue buttons and digital steam!
But they said, 'No, Just give us a sign,
That makes every person feel seen and divine!'
Turns out the best feature that you’ll ever find,
is treating your folks like they’re one of a kind! Read the story that focused our work →
How we work
We don't begin with software. We begin with conversations.
Explorers carry compromises nobody talks about — the spreadsheet that should have been replaced years ago, the phone call that steals your evening, the software demo that never matched your reality. We name those compromises out loud, bring people together around them, and build technology that hands you your evenings back.
-
Listen
Real conversations first — not assumptions from a slide deck.
-
Learn
We write down what explorers actually said — not what we wished they had said.
-
Build
Create alongside the people who will use it every day.
-
Measure
Did you get your evening back? That is the scoreboard.
-
Improve
Iterate openly — your feedback is not a ticket, it is the roadmap.

Field Notes
Field musings with the volume turned up — questions, comments, and profundities picked up while serving owners and dreaming aloud about what comes next. Not case studies. Not a pitch deck. The kind of read that makes you lean in.
Straight from the field — no filter
Every entry is something an explorer actually said. We publish it before we productize it — because you deserve to see the real work.
Transformation video beats brochure copy for window and maintenance explorers. Field research
Asset Maintenance Pros films real job sites every week. Property managers do not need more adjectives — they need proof. Short-form video builds trust faster than a services page ever could.
What we are doing next: We are building Shorts Studio in Wocket with AMP — Drive inbox to published Short, with joy and minimal admin.
We interviewed 42 service business explorers in April. Field research
Most described the same pattern: they can schedule a job, but keeping customers, crews, and office staff aligned still takes too many phone calls and too much mental load.
What we are doing next: We are redesigning Wocket around communication breakdowns — not just calendars.
Scheduling isn't always the biggest frustration—communication is. Insight
Retired educators told us digital communication should feel effortless. Community listening
Our scholarship platform continues to evolve based on parent feedback. NextJawn
Families asked for fewer gates and more transparency. We simplified discovery paths and watched engagement rise without adding hype.
What we are doing next: NextJawn discovery paths keep simplifying as families tell us what blocks them.
Built together
Not another vendor report. A living library written by people who are tired of being studied and ready to be heard.
