The words and definitions we accidentally invented while trying to explain what we mean — flip a card, any card.
This is not the complete Cog-Mission dictionary because, frankly, we are terrible at leaving words alone.
We pride ourselves on being professional idea mashers.
We combine business lessons, technology, stories, games, conversations, and a suspicious amount of food philosophy into words that help us see things a little differently.
Some ideas start in a meeting. Some start over lunch. Some appear when someone says, "There has to be a better way," and we realize we finally have a name for what we have been trying to describe.
This dictionary is less about official definitions and more about how we make sense of the world around here.

Research
noun (re·search /ˈrēˌsərCH/)
Listening longer than feels comfortable. Being vulnerable enough to ask the follow-up question when you are not understanding the lingo or language just yet.
Stay at the Table a Little Longer
Research is not a survey monkey link and a spreadsheet. It is listening longer than feels comfortable.
It is asking the follow-up question. It is noticing the pause before someone says "fine." It is writing down the thing they said offhand that turned out to be the real problem.
Getting comfortable in knowing that there is alot that is unknown, and that is okay. Comfortable at being the guy who does not yet know the inside joke or why something failed last time. Beign persistent enough to stick with the problem in all it's weird manifestations and wonder at the wild new path that was uncovered. And brave enough to that first step into a new side quest.

Bug / Bugs
noun (bug /bəɡ/)
Bug Proof that software is written by humans. Usually discovered five minutes after saying, "I think we're done."
Bugs The little creatures (digital or otherwise) that show up right when you thought you were done.
The Five-Minute Rule
A bug is not a moral failure. It is proof that humans wrote the code — and humans, bless them, occasionally forget that Tuesdays exist. They are usually discovered approximately five minutes after someone says, "I think we're done."
Worked until someone opened the wall (metaphorically or literally).
We do not pretend bugs are rare. We fix them like adults and thank the owner who found it before it found everyone else.

HIPAA
noun (HIP·AA /ˈhipə/)
The US rulebook for protecting health information — so a care visit does not become a privacy leak.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) is the U.S. law that sets expectations for how health information is kept private and secure. People often type HIPPA — we mean HIPAA.
For private senior care owners, the plain question is: if you write down health details about the person you care for, who can see them, and are you treating that information with the care it deserves?
Not a vibe. A rule set.
Pairs with Protected Health Information (PHI) and a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) when a software partner helps you store that information.
Wocket is designed for HIPAA-minded care documentation when a BAA is in place — details live on our HIPAA page and in a 1:1 with Cog Mission.
For Family Relief’s first-pass states: New Jersey defaults to HHAeXchange. Connect credentials in Care EVV setup; without live keys, visits still record and queue.

Workflow / Workflows
noun (work·flow /ˈwərkˌflō/)
Workflow Yesterday's best idea, waiting patiently to become tomorrow's better one. A fancy word for "How we usually do things."
Workflows Yesterday's best ideas, waiting patiently to become tomorrow's better ones.
The Usual Way (Under Review)
Workflow is corporate poetry for habit. It is how the office knows a job is done, how the tech knows what to photograph, how the owner knows whether today was a win or a fire drill.
Sometimes it is elegant.
Sometimes it is three apps and a prayer.
Often it was invented by someone who no longer works here.
Every great workflow begins the same way: someone mutters, "There has to be a better way," and instead of ignoring it, someone writes it down. We do not ship workflows from a tower. We trace them on napkins first.
Yesterday's best idea. Waiting patiently to become tomorrow's better one.

PHI
noun (P·H·I /ˌpēˌāCHˈī/)
Protected Health Information — health details that can identify a person. Not the same as a name on an invoice.
Protected Health Information
PHI means Protected Health Information: health details tied to a person — diagnoses, medications, physician notes, detailed care notes that reveal health status.
A schedule that says "Mrs. Smith — Monday 9–1, companionship" is ops. A note that lists her diagnosis and meds is PHI. Wocket keeps PHI in Healthcare Documentation after a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) — not in ordinary job notes.
Competitor Someone else in the same trade. We probably wouldn't define them. (You know who you are.)
Competitors We probably wouldn't define these. (You know who you are.)
This Card Intentionally Left Blank-ish
Someone will ask why Jobber isn't in the dictionary. Fair. We are not here to define other people's logos. We are here to define our language — how we listen, how we build, how we show up at lunch.
Competitors get slide decks. We get Plates & Updates. If you want comparisons, ask an owner who has lived through both the demo and the Tuesday after.
We'll be at the table. Coffee's on.
A fresh set of cards rotates in every hour — scroll, flip, and check back.
